Official Rules

The short, plain-English version. Play smart, play safe.

1. Free to enter — always

You never pay anything to receive clues or to win. No purchase, no entry fee, no subscription. Anyone can play.

2. It's a skill contest, not a lottery

Winning depends on solving the clues and searching — skill and effort, not luck. There is no random drawing and no game of chance.

3. Eligibility

Open to residents of Texas who are 18 or older (or accompanied by a parent/guardian). Void where prohibited.

4. Where the cash is hidden

Prizes are always placed on publicly accessible land where searching is legal and safe. Never trespass on private property, dig, damage anything, climb, or enter restricted or dangerous areas. If a clue seems to point somewhere unsafe or private, you've misread it — the answer is always a safe, legal, public spot.

5. Winning

The first person to physically locate the hidden cash and follow the claim instructions in the clues keeps the full prize. One prize per hunt unless stated otherwise.

6. Play at your own risk

You are responsible for your own safety and for obeying all laws and posted rules while participating. Texas Scavenger Hunt and its organizers are not liable for any injury, loss, or damage arising from participation.

7. Taxes

Prizes may be taxable income. Winners are responsible for any taxes and may be asked to complete a tax form for prizes of $600 or more.

8. Changes

We may pause, modify, or cancel a hunt if the prize can't be safely found (weather, the spot becomes inaccessible, etc.). We'll always announce changes to the email list and socials.
