Official Rules
A contest of skill. Play smart, play safe.
1. It's a contest of skill
The winner is determined by solving the puzzle — intellect and effort — not by chance or by who happens to arrive first by luck. To claim the prize, a solver must demonstrate the reasoning they used to solve the puzzle.
2. How to enter
Purchase a hunt puzzle pack. Each pack is one entry. The puzzle is delivered to you by email at purchase.
3. How to win
Be the first to (a) locate the hidden envelope, (b) email the exact claim word found inside it to hello@texasscavengerhunt.com, and (c) provide a written explanation of how you solved the puzzle, verified by the organizer.
4. Where the prize is
The envelope is in a location that is publicly accessible, legal to reach, and not dangerous. It is not buried, not on private property, and not in a hazardous spot (water, cave, ledge, roadway, etc.). Destroying, digging, trespassing, or disturbing property is never necessary — if solving seems to require it, you've misread the puzzle.
5. Play at your own risk
You are responsible for your own safety and for obeying all laws and posted rules while participating. Texas Scavenger Hunt and its organizers are not liable for any injury, loss, or damage arising from participation.
6. Eligibility
Open to legal U.S. residents 18 or older (minors may participate with a parent/guardian, and any prize is paid to the guardian). Void where prohibited. Organizer and immediate family are excluded.
7. Deadline & fallback
Each hunt runs until the envelope is found and a winner verified, or until the stated deadline, whichever is first. If a hunt is unsolved by its deadline, the prize is donated to a North Texas charity.
8. Taxes
Prizes may be taxable income. Winners are responsible for any taxes and may be required to complete a tax form (e.g., a W-9 / 1099 for prizes of $600 or more).
9. Fairness
One verified win per hunt. The organizer is the final arbiter of a valid solution and reserves the right to disqualify cheating (for example, sharing the claim word or tampering with the envelope).
10. Changes
The organizer may pause or modify a hunt if the prize becomes unreachable or unsafe (weather, site closure, removal) and will announce any change to buyers by email.
